Guidelines Applicable in our context? Experience Feedback
1. Keep users informed about its status appropriately and promptly Yes Although the cursor responded on clicks with the index finger pressing on the surface, there was no haptic feedback received. 😕 (confused)
2. Show information in ways users understand from how the real world operates, and in the users’ language. Maybe not Since the website seems to follows the Brutalist design aesthetics, the context of it depends on the user’s nationality. As an Indian national, the presentation of the information is an alien experience as it does not oscillate with the ‘real world’ around me. 🤔 (wonder)
3. Offer users control and let them undo errors easily. Yes Due to the loading time, the cursor lagged for a couple of seconds. The control over the cursor wasn’t very smooth as for a first time user getting used to the sensitivity of the cursor took a while to adjust unlike the commercial platforms. 🥱 (unamused)
4. Be consistent so users aren’t confused over what different words, icons, etc. mean. Yes The visual language do not follow the commercial visual language so clearly the undertones of the language used gravitate towards self-expression than a commercial service providing platform. 🤔 (wonder)
5. Prevent errors – a system should either avoid conditions where errors arise or warn users before they take risky actions (e.g., “Are you sure you want to do this?” messages). Yes Although such actions were rare in the website, there were clear signs of warning before the user could commit an error. Eg: Adding an article to the bag. 🙂 (amused)
6. Have visible information, instructions, etc. to let users recognise options, actions, etc. instead of forcing them to rely on memory. Maybe not Given the nature of the website, almost every page was a new visual experience. The collective cognitive load was more than any other commercial websites as the patterns don’t follow. 😵‍💫 (mixed feelings)
7. Be flexible so experienced users find faster ways to attain goals. Yes As already mentioned, the website maybe qualify the innovative goals to showcase ideas but lacks the flexibility status of usability. 😵‍💫 (mixed feelings)
8. Have no clutter, containing only relevant information for current tasks. Yes The Visual language although does not attain modern minimalistic goals, when it comes to executing the important tasks, such as adding articles to the shopping bag, the information provided were quite relevant. 🙂 (amused)
9. Provide plain-language help regarding errors and solutions. Yes The language was quite satisfactory for error handling matters. 🙂 (amused)
10. List concise steps in lean, searchable documentation for overcoming problems. Yes There is no ‘search’ option in the website, which affected the discoverability. It resulted in broadening the issue of overcoming problems. As I have mentioned, the learning curve here is steep and affects the user friendliness of the site. 🥱 (unamused)
